I wonder if exists a software that will let compose music (be it MIDI or not) and get it onto a file (either WAV, MP3 or any other format....

I don't know if you remember me, but I was a poster in the brokenhearts community last year. Your words were helpful and encouraging, by the way. Thanks for everything.

It was because of that, though, that I stumbled upon your journal and this post. Being a professional musician, I can help with that one! I use Sonar 2.2 XL to do all of my home recording. It records MIDI and audio equally well, and has a ton of effects and modules built in.

If you want to hear some samples of what I have gotten out of it thus far, you can hear

Song #1: Hourglass

or

Song #2: I Can't Tell You Why

I used MIDI and audio both on there (the drums, bass and keys are all MIDI), so you can get an idea of what it's capable of. If you can't afford a legit copy (it's certainly well-priced for what it can do, but it's not the cheapest thing out there for someone just looking to record recreationally), I've seen copies of it on KaZaA when I was looking to see if anyone had any different modules for it.

Anyway, hope that helped!
