Network errors, damnit!

I'm still here (at a client) and I'm trying to transfer some files I need to finish the instalation of a NT 4.0 workstation but I'm getting very slow transfers and, some time latter, the file copy stops with an error!

Damnit! The files are on CD but that is stored in it's place and it is closed!
How am I going to solve this?
I've already upgraded NT up to SP3 but I need either SP5 or SP6a....

Well, I'm going to try a download from the Internet, from Microsoft. I just hope it will work!

Almost all computers here are processing and the network traffic is high (although we are here with a 100Mbit ethernet).... can it be due to this?

Well, going for the download trial!

Locked!

How can I make the download of the NT 4 SP6 if I can't even get a decent browser?

When trying to make the download of the IE 5 I still get these errors of timeout!

What the heck?! I must either have a recent browser or get the SP6 somehow to see if I can discover the origin of the problem.....

Well, after the last one went so well (complete install of the OS, Service Packs and some software in about 3 hours!) I guess I could expect this.... :-((((

But I'm not defeated yet!

Hopping....

Let's see if I just can get the IE5 through the network....
As it is split in a number of files, if it blows, I can just repeat the process with the files that are just missing!

It has already stopped once but I instructed it to continue. Lets see if I can just reach to the end....

Mex4th work...

There's a good reason why I carry almost always the papers relating with the work on my SmP processor and on my Mex4th and Mex4thOS!....

It has mostly been done while waiting for instalations or other things!

Once I have my computer on the new office, I'm going to have there all that has been done so far.
One thing I must do as soon as possible, is to have all the documentation made so far online.
Not only to have the possibility to consult it from anywhere through the Internet as to be able to continue working on it in any little time hole spot I can get!

Until I get this first milestone (having a running system on 2 different hardwares without ANY operating system under it) I'm not ready to start showing this to anyone until I have actual software running!....

IE5 already on the computer!

Happily, IE 5 is divided in many files, not is just one large!

So, after a number of stops and reties I got all the files finally on the computer!
Right now it is installing IE 5.

But I still don't understand why I have this network problems.... The file transfers are interrupted due to timeouts, which means that, for some unknow reason, the transport medium is havvng failures.... Can it be a network cable?

I'll have to discover that...

Repeated entries.....

I've just found out that going back wuth the back button of the browser to get the update page again, somehow seams to make the same post to be reapeated (at least on a friend's LJ.....)

But on mine it doesn't appear repeated....

So I'll have to get the update URL directlly and not use the back button....
